Brazil Expands International Flights with New and Increased Connections to Europe

Air France, Iberia, and TAP Air Portugal are strengthening Brazil’s international air network, bringing more travel options to the country’s Northeast region.

Brazil is becoming even more accessible to international travelers as major European airlines expand their services to the country. New routes and additional flights connecting Brazil with France, Spain, and Portugal are expected to improve travel options during the upcoming peak tourism season.

The expansion is particularly significant for Northeast Brazil, a region increasingly attracting international visitors with its tropical beaches, vibrant culture, and historic cities.

Air France to Offer Daily Flights Between Paris and Fortaleza

Starting December 14, 2026, Air France will increase its Paris–Fortaleza service to daily flights, providing more flexibility for travelers between France and Brazil.

The additional flights coincide with Brazil’s summer season, when destinations along the northeastern coast attract visitors seeking sunshine, beaches, and warm weather.

Fortaleza is also a convenient starting point for exploring Ceará’s coastline, including popular destinations such as Jericoacoara and Cumbuco.

Iberia Increases Madrid–Fortaleza Flights

Spanish carrier Iberia is expanding its Madrid–Fortaleza service to 10 weekly flights through February 2027.

The temporary increase will provide additional capacity during the busy summer travel period and improve connections for passengers traveling from Spain and other European cities through Madrid.

The expansion further strengthens Fortaleza’s position as an important international gateway to Northeast Brazil.

TAP Launches Direct Flights Between Lisbon and São Luís

Another important development is the introduction of direct flights between Lisbon and São Luís, the capital of Maranhão.

TAP Air Portugal inaugurated the service in late October 2026, establishing a new nonstop connection between Europe and the Brazilian state.

The route operates twice weekly and offers European travelers easier access to Maranhão, home to the spectacular Lençóis Maranhenses National Park.

Famous for its vast white sand dunes and seasonal freshwater lagoons, Lençóis Maranhenses has become one of Brazil’s most remarkable natural attractions.

The new service also allows travelers to reach São Luís without first connecting through major Brazilian airports such as São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro.

More Opportunities to Explore Brazil

These airline expansions reflect the growing importance of Brazil as an international travel destination.

For visitors planning a trip to Brazil, additional flights can mean more convenient itineraries, greater flexibility, and improved access to destinations beyond the country’s traditional gateways.

With international connections expanding across the Northeast, travelers have more opportunities to combine coastal destinations, cultural experiences, and natural attractions in a single vacation.
