Mateiros is a cityof Brazil located in the eastern part of the country. It is the one and only city in Tocantins to border the state of Piaui.

From the State of Tocantins, approximately 300 km from Palmas, you will find the city of Mateiros. You can get the accommodation with modest infrastructure, or you can stay in camps and inn. You can enjoy local delicacies which are served in local resturanrs, some of the delicacies includes, homemade food like simple dishes, such as rice, beans and chicken . Mateiros is home to one of the greatest adventure destinations in the country, the Jalapao State Park. It is Recognized in the entire world for its beautiful landscape and clear waters, orange sand dunes, waterfalls and rapids, large plateaus and many animals, such as toucans, deer and jaguars. Because it is an area that is difficult to access, its nature is well preserved and almost untouched by humans. The main attractions in the Park are the waterfalls Velha and Formiga.

Another great natural attraction in Mateiros is the Fervedouro. In the midst of the white sand, you find a small pool of bubbling crystal clear blue water, surrounded by the green of the banana trees. There is a lot of pressure in the area, a phenomenon called up-welling, which prevents the body from sinking while swimming and diving. A very pleasant and fun experience that is worth the visit.

In Mateiros there is the Mumbuca Village, formed by calungas. They have the tradition of making handicrafts with golden grass, a golden color plant, typical of the region, almost metallic in appearance. The golden grass straw is used by skilled craftsmen to make pieces such as baskets, handbags, necklaces and beautiful decorative objects.
