Essential air network serves all Brazilian states
The Brazilian National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) reported today (27), in Brasília, that the companies Gol, Azul and Latam will guarantee flights to the capitals of the 26 states and the Federal District, in addition to 19 other cities in the country. The flights will start tomorrow (28) and are scheduled until the end of April.
The agency also said that it received from the companies the last adjustments in the resizing of the Brazilian air network, due to the pandemic of the new coronavirus.
The planning started last Monday (23), when the companies met with representatives from Anac, the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade) to detail the operation of the network, so that no state would be left without at least one air connection.
“With the drastic reduction in flights in March, due to the coronavirus pandemic, there was a risk of a total stoppage of the service. The emergency network is 91.61% smaller than that originally forecast by the companies for the period. Considering the schedule from Gol, Azul and Latam, the drop is 56.06% of the locations served, going from 106 to 46. The number of weekly flights went from 14,781 to 1,241 “, informed Anac.
According to the regulatory agency, flights, with weekly frequencies, will be distributed as follows: 723 flights in the Southeast, 153 in the Northeast, 155 flights in the South, 135 in the Midwest and 75 flights to the North. Of this total, 483 flights will be operated by Latam, 405 flights by Azul and 353 flights by Gol.
