Tom and Vinicius are the names for Rio Olympics Mascots
After three weeks and over 300.000 votes casted, the Rio Olympic Committee selected the names Vinicius and Tom for the two mascots of 2016 summer games in Rio.
The names are in honor of two of Brazil’s best known composers and Bossa Nova masters, responsible for among other, the world famous Girl from Ipanema, and many other Bossa Nova tunes.
Vinicius represents the Brazilian fauna and its great diversity, with its long arms and legs which allows him to jump high and fast. Tom is the para-Olympic mascot .
